ERCOT Power Trader
We are seeking a dynamic ERCOT Power Trader with a passion for data-driven trading and a strong track record of generating revenue in the short-term ERCOT markets. As an ERCOT Power Trader, you will perform short-term and term trading, develop and implement statistical-based models, and identify opportunities for speculative CRR and DAM Virtual & PTP trades.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement statistical-based models correlating supply and demand to price in order to increase the probability of successful trading in the Bal-day and Next day markets
- Short-term ERCOT trading including Bal-day, weekly, and Bal-month markets
- Term trading including, but not limited to Fixed Price, Heat Rate, and Zonal Basis markets
- Identify opportunities for speculative CRR, cash, and DAM Virtual & PTP trades by assessing the performance of the electric grid in the near and long term
- Develop fundamental congestion and bidding/trading strategies by performing Powerflow analysis
- Work closely with the rest of the team to build out profitable long term CRR strategies
- Incorporate data science into creating statistical models and algorithms that provide trade signals, driving trading strategy and commercial decisions
- Understand and maintain in-house models to ensure continuity on the desk
- Manage risk in accordance with the overall ERCOT portfolio
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a quantitative analysis field
- At least 3 years of experience with a successful track record trading ERCOT power markets in virtual markets and/or CRR markets
- Experience with Optimal Power Flow (OPF) models or electricity market simulation tools would be an asset
- Experience with programming languages, including SQL, R, and Python
- Strong knowledge of data models and data management
- Strong quantitative and research skills
